Assist Health Supplies
Calgary
Job Summary
Some managers maintain a location. We are looking for a leader who makes the entire site perform better.
Assist Health Supplies is seeking a proven, hands-on leader for our Calgary location. This is not a first management assignment and it is not a remote role. You will lead a busy, customer-focused site with multiple divisions, competing priorities and many moving parts.
Your mandate is clear: be present, lead the people, own the customer experience, translate company priorities into action, and ensure the Calgary team follows through. You will have meaningful authority within the role and direct accountability for staff leadership, customer outcomes, local execution and business performance.
You will not be expected to design every system alone. You will work in close partnership with our established Operations & Process Improvement Manager, who owns company-wide process architecture, systems and documentation standards. You will bring the realities of employees and customers into that work, help shape practical solutions, and lead adoption at the Calgary site.
Responsibilities
· Be the primary on-site leader for the Calgary team and the first management escalation point for staff and customer matters.
· Motivate, coach, develop and hold employees accountable while building a culture people want to contribute to.
· Translate company priorities and operating requirements into clear responsibilities, daily decisions, training, measures and follow-through.
· Model a customer-first standard and lead calm, decisive service recovery when situations become difficult.
· Resolve employee, customer and cross-functional conflict with fairness, diplomacy, documentation and closure.
· Coordinate retail, service,
administration and other divisions so the site operates as one business.
· Own local execution, including staffing, workflow, service levels, communication, productivity and adherence to agreed processes.
· Manage the fundamentals of site performance, including sales, gross-margin awareness, labour/productivity, expenses and profitability trade-offs.
· Identify customer, people, operational and business-development opportunities and move approved initiatives into action.
Requirements
You have already proven that people will follow your leadership because they trust your judgment and believe in the direction - not merely because of your title. You are comfortable leading from the floor, handling difficult conversations, working across functions, and partnering with a process expert who expects evidence, clarity and disciplined implementation.
· 3-5+ years of progressive operational and people-leadership experience, including meaningful direct responsibility for a team. Equivalent depth of leadership experience will be considered.
· Evidence that engagement, accountability, retention, customer service or business performance improved under your leadership.
· Strong conflict-resolution skills and the confidence to address difficult behaviour early, fairly and directly.
· Commercial judgment and working knowledge of sales, margin, labour/productivity, operating expense and profitability trade-offs.
· Robust written communication,
documentation and follow-through.
· Confidence with business systems and the ability to learn, teach and reinforce new processes.
· Experience in healthcare or medical supplies is welcome, but not required. Transferable leadership success matters more than industry background.
What success looks like
· Employees understand priorities, know what strong performance looks like, and follow through without constant escalation.
· Customers receive consistent, respectful and knowledgeable service, even during high-volume or difficult situations.
· Daily issues are handled promptly at the site while recurring problems are converted into evidence-based improvement work.
· Operations and site leadership present one clear direction to employees.
· New processes are practical, understood, adopted, measured and improved - not merely announced.
· The Calgary site is operationally disciplined, financially responsible and steadily improving.
