Job Title: Nurse II

Location: Strathcona Refinery

Length: 1 Year

Rotation: 5 days on / 2 days off

Role Summary
Provides occupational health services across multiple sites or operations and delivers regional or global nursing support through appropriate networks and committees. Typically certified as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) . Responsible for providing advanced occupational health services, guidance, training, and program support while ensuring compliance with skilled standards, company requirements, and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide and document occupational health services and guidance to other health professionals in the provision and documentation of routine, non-routine, and complex occupational health care services for employees and other individuals as directed by local site management and within professional licensing requirements.

Develop and maintain local occupational health policies and procedures in collaboration with occupational health professionals.

Determine and communicate Fitness for Work assessments and train others in the provision of this service, including:

Injury and illness case management

Routine and non-routine travel preparation

Occupational evaluations

Regional or global occupational health support as required

Perform, analyze, and evaluate health screening data to identify potential workplace exposures in accordance with Global Medical and Occupational Health (MOH) requirements and applicable local regulations.





Make recommendations to management based on individual and workforce health screening results and train others in delivering these services.

Train external medical service providers to ensure services are delivered in accordance with company occupational health guidelines.

Coordinate Alcohol and Drug Use (ADU) testing programs and services as required.

Participate actively in Medical and Occupational Health (MOH) and Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) committees, projects, and initiatives, including regional leadership responsibilities where applicable.

Manage clinic resources effectively and ensure appropriate utilization of equipment, supplies, and services.

Role Scope

Provides advanced occupational health expertise across multiple operational locations.

Supports regional and global occupational health initiatives through professional networks and committees.

Influences occupational health practices, policies, and service delivery through training, mentorship, and professional guidance.

Ensures occupational health programs comply with relevant corporate standards, professional requirements, and applicable regulations.

Contributes to workforce health protection, risk management, exposure assessment, and emergency preparedness initiatives.

Qualifications

Nursing Degree, Advanced Nursing Degree, Physician Assistant qualification, or equivalent health-related credential.

Current professional license in the jurisdiction(s) supported.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification typically required.

Working Conditions

Supports multiple operational sites and may provide regional or global occupational health coverage.

May participate in regional committees, projects, training activities, and corporate health initiatives.

Occasional travel may be required to support operational locations and occupational health programs.
