Backtrack Railway Services Ltd has been serving the Rail Industry for over 25 years.

Backtrack offers sales, service and parts of various hand and power tools required in the rail industry. With five locations across Canada we are a leader in the railway power tool and industrial supply industry.

We have an opportunity for the right person to join our dynamic team in Winnipeg.

Position: Shop Supervisor/Power Tool Mechanic– Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

- Supervise employees in a mechanical or retail sales environment
- Manage day to day business processes, customer support
- Perform repairs and maintenance on a variety of equipment and power tools
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical and mechanical problems
- Provide on-site support in retail sales and customer service
- Order appropriate parts and supplies to expedite the repair process
- Complete and create work orders in a computer-based system (Netsuite)
- Assist in housekeeping duties in the office, yard and shop as required
- Assist with shipping and receiving materials as required
- Using a forklift to offload and load shipments as required (training provided)

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:




- Minimum 2 years as small engine mechanic or similar mechanical experience (Automotive, Heavy equipment)
- Experience in supervision in a mechanical shop environment
- Able to work independently with remote supervision
- Experience with 2 cycle (Sthil, Husqvarna), 4 cycle engines (Briggs and Stratton, Honda)
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical circuits
- Class 5 driver’s license, reliable transportation
- Railroad maintenance experience is an asset
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral), comfortable with collaborating online
- Physically able to lift >50lbs

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $28.00-$33.00 per hour
