Small Engine / Powersports Mechanic — Rays WrecksJob Overview
Join the team at Rays Wrecks as a Powersports Mechanic! We are looking for a motivated, hands-on individual who enjoys working on quads, snowmobiles, and other powersports equipment. This position involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs, dismantling machines for parts, and helping keep our inventory and shop running smoothly.
You’ll work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where no two machines are necessarily the same. Your mechanical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail will be important in getting machines repaired, tested, and ready for customers.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, and drivetrain issues on ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, and other powersports equipment
- Perform maintenance, repairs, part replacements, and engine work on a variety of makes and models
- Troubleshoot electrical systems using wiring diagrams, schematics, and diagnostic equipment
- Remove, replace, and inspect engines, transmissions, clutches, axles, differentials, suspension components, brakes, and other mechanical parts
- Dismantle ATVs and snowmobiles safely and efficiently for parts
- Inspect used machines and components to determine condition and potential resale or parts value
- Use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and welding equipment as required
- Read and understand service manuals, parts diagrams, and technical information
- Test repaired machines and components to ensure they are operating properly
- Keep work areas, tools, and shop equipment clean and organized
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and work completed
- Assist with loading, unloading, moving, and handling heavy machinery and parts
- Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe shop environment
- Provide helpful and skilled service when communicating with customers about repairs and parts
Qualifications
- Previous mechanic experience is an asset; experience with ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, or other powersports equipment is preferred
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, suspension, brakes, and fuel systems
- Comfortable reading wiring diagrams, service manuals, and parts diagrams
- Experienced with hand tools and power tools
- Welding experience is an asset
- Able to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Able to safely lift and move heavy parts and machinery
- Valid driver's licence is an asset
- Previous experience with Arctic Cat, Polaris, Ski-Doo, Yamaha, Honda, Can-Am, or other powersports brands is an asset
- Reliable, hardworking, and willing to take on a variety of tasks around the shop
What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working on machines and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically minded, takes pride in their work, and can troubleshoot problems rather than simply replacing parts.
If you enjoy ATVs, snowmobiles, engines, and powersports equipment and want to work in a hands-on shop environment, we’d love to hear from you!
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Benefits
- Company events
