What can you expect?
The Head Barista is responsible for leading and maintaining a consistent, high-quality coffee program across all outlets at Sunshine Mountain Resort. This role oversees coffee standards, recipes, training, quality control, and equipment practices while supporting baristas and operational teams. Working closely with Food & Beverage leadership, the Head Barista helps deliver an exceptional and consistent coffee experience for guests in a fast-paced mountain environment.

- Overseeing the coffee and espresso program across all mountain coffee outlets.
- Establishing and maintaining consistent coffee quality, preparation, presentation, and service standards.
- Developing and maintaining standardized recipes for espresso, brewed coffee, and specialty beverages.
- Calibrating espresso machines and grinders and troubleshooting coffee quality or equipment issues.
- Conducting regular quality checks and providing coaching when standards are not being met.
- Developing and delivering barista training, skills assessments, and ongoing refresher training.
- Coaching baristas, supervisors, and managers on coffee standards, equipment use, and troubleshooting.
- Developing and testing new specialty and seasonal beverages.
- Maintaining recipe guides, training materials, and coffee program documentation.
- Establishing and monitoring equipment cleaning and preventative maintenance standards.
- Identifying opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, consistency, and guest experience.
- Monitoring coffee usage, waste, inventory needs, and product specifications.
- Working closely with F&B; Managers and Supervisors to support operational goals and peak service periods.
- Leading by example in coffee quality, guest service, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
And you have:
- Previous professional barista experience, preferably in a specialty coffee environment.
- Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, extraction, grinder calibration, milk steaming, and beverage preparation.
- Ability to dial in espresso and troubleshoot coffee quality and equipment issues.
- Experience developing coffee recipes, beverage standards, or specialty drinks.
- Previous experience training, coaching, or leading baristas.
- Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and consistency.
- Ability to take ownership, work independently, and collaborate effectively with operational teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Ability to travel between mountain outlets as required.
- Specialty coffee training or certification is an asset.
- Experience managing or supporting a multi-location coffee program is an asset.
- Experience with coffee menu or specialty beverage development is an asset.
- Experience working with a variety of espresso machines and grinder systems is an asset.
Additional Considerations:
- Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
- This position works at high altitude and at times, in inclement weather. Prolonged periods of standing, repetitive motions, bending and twisting is required.
- Some required uniform pieces are provided.
- Based on operational needs, this position may require working in various Food & Beverage venues across the resort.
