Job Title: Social Media Manager
Reports To: Director of Marketing, Sales, and Patron Engagement
Location: On-Site
Position Type: Part-Time (less than 26 hours per week), Non-Exempt, Hybrid
Salary: $22.00/hour
About This Position
People's Light's Social Media Manager holds an important role on the marketing team at an exciting moment of evolution for the organization. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Sales & Patron Engagement, and working in close collaboration with the Senior Marketing Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the creation and management of online campaigns for each People's Light production, events, The Farmhouse, and surrounding programming.
This is a creative, audience-forward role ideally suited for someone passionate about the performing arts, storytelling, and digital marketing.
The Social Media
Manager will develop engaging content, cultivate community connections, and help promote productions, events,
and programs across multiple social media platforms, all while maintaining a consistent brand voice that reflects the mission and spirit of People's Light.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Platform Management
- Create and publish engaging content across social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn
- Capture behind-the-scenes photos and videos during rehearsals, performances, and special events
- Write compelling captions that reflect the theatre company's brand, voice, and mission
- Maintain a consistent brand identity and visual aesthetic across all platforms
Community Engagement
- Monitor social media channels and respond to comments and messages in a professional and timely manner that reflect People’s Light’s mission and spirit.
- Actively engage with followers, community partners, and patron audiences to build and sustain online community
- Collaborate with staff, artists, and community partners to gather content and highlight organizational activities
Campaign Support and Strategy
- Assist in developing social media campaigns to promote productions, special events, auditions, fundraising initiatives, and educational programs
- Support earned income goals through targeted digital campaigns aligned with marketing and development priorities
- Stay current with social media trends, platform updates, and emerging content strategies
Analytics and Reporting
- Track social media performance using analytics tools and prepare monthly reports with actionable recommendations for improvement

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Theatre, or a related field OR equivalent professional experience
- Robust working knowledge of major social media platforms and current digital trends
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt tone and voice across audiences
- Basic photography and video editing skills using tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe products, or similar software
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to cover performances and special events
- Genuine passion for theatre, live entertainment, and community engagement
Preferred
- Previous internship, volunteer experience, or campus leadership in social media management
- Experience using social media scheduling and analytics platforms
- Basic graphic design skills
- Familiarity with the performing arts or nonprofit environment
Skills
- Exceptional written communication with a strong editorial instinct for brand voice and audience engagement
- Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret performance data and translate insights into strategy
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines across multiple concurrent campaigns
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, development, and artistic staff
