Social Media Video Editor Volunteer

Flyby Aerials is seeking a creative Volunteer Social Media Video Editor to help transform aerial drone footage into engaging content for social media and digital platforms.

This is a remote, flexible, on-call volunteer role open to candidates located in Alberta, with Calgary-area candidates welcome. It is neither a full-time nor a part-time position; there are no fixed weekly hours.

Projects will be assigned based on upcoming content needs and your availability.

This opportunity is a strong fit for a student, emerging editor, or content creator looking to build real-world experience and expand a video editing portfolio. As Flyby Aerials grows, there may be opportunities for increased responsibility and potential paid work in the future; however, this position is currently unpaid and volunteer-based.

What You’ll Do

- Edit short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and other social platforms
- Edit occasional long-form video content for YouTube, promotional projects, or client-focused work
- Turn drone footage into polished, engaging videos using cuts, pacing, transitions, music, colour correction, and basic motion graphics where appropriate
- Create captions and on-screen text optimized for social media viewing
- Prepare and assist with posting content across Flyby Aerials social media platforms when needed
- Collaborate remotely on ideas, formats, branding, and creative direction




- Organize project files and deliver completed edits within agreed timelines
- Remain flexible to assist with other content or media projects as they come up

Qualifications
- Experience editing video using Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut , or similar editing software
- A good understanding of short-form social media content and what performs well on TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
- Strong attention to detail, visual storytelling, pacing, and basic colour correction
- Ability to add captions, text overlays, music, transitions, and simple graphics
- Comfortable working independently in a remote workplace and communicating clearly about availability
- Able to receive feedback and make revisions constructively
- English-speaking, French-speaking, or bilingual candidates are welcome
- A portfolio, sample edits, personal content page, or relevant school/personal projects are an asset, but formal work experience is not required
