Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is an Acute Care hospital with over 1,100 beds. It is the Trauma Centre for Southern Alberta, Eastern British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan. FMC has a Neuro Tertiary Unit as well as the majority of In-Patient Neurological services in Calgary.

The present caseload for this position is a Float with consult work with palliative/MAiD patients and their families, with the potential for coverage on any unit/service as required. The caseload for all positions within the Social Work department may be subject to change based on operational considerations. The successful incumbent will show proficiencies in the following areas: Interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team.

Description

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications

Six months experience in acute care palliative care within the last 2 years.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in palliative care. Experience working with patients and families at end of life. Experience with grief support. Experience working with patients requesting Medical Assistance in Dying.
