Article 2.07 and Article 13, PIPSC RT Collective Agreement The McMaster Children’s Hospital Autism Program is an ambulatory service for children and youth with an Autism

Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These services have strong links to McMaster University’s Departments of Pediatrics and

Psychiatry, the Offord Centre for Child Studies.[

Monday to Friday; days, evenings

This position is temporary until May 2028.

- Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work
- Current Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Certified Social Work and Social Service Workers
- Expertise in a range of therapeutic modalities and interventions including evidence-based therapeutic practice in assessment and brief treatment of children, youth and their families




- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act, Consent to Treatment Act, Child and Family Services Act
- Demonstrated knowledge of working with and supporting the needs of children, youth and families with a range of complex needs; experience with Autistic children and youth is considered an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of community services and resources and knowledge of referral process required for accessing resources
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal team work, leadership and communication skills
- Proven ability for independent action, initiative, problem-solving, organization and prioritization within a fast paced and changing environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in documentation related to assessment, consultation and/or treatment services
- Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
- Fluency in French would be an asset

As part of a multi-disciplinary team and within the context of a family centred care approach, the role of the Social Worker will include assessment, counseling, education and support to Autistic children and adolescents up to the age of 18, and their families. . Case management responsibilities will be required for those children, youth and families with complex needs. The role will require collaboration with other health care providers as appropriate as well as community service providers.

The ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and solid communication skills are essential to the role.
