Job Description – Millwright (Full time)
Department : Maintenance

Reports To : Maintenance Supervisor

Schedule: Full-Time (M-F / Day or Afternoon)

Position Summary
The Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems within a fast-paced consumer food manufacturing environment. This role ensures the plant operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, mechanically strong, and comfortable working with a wide range of processing and packaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair

Perform mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on production equipment such as conveyors, mixers, grinders, pumps, packaging machines, and other food-processing equipment.

Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions.

Install, align, and test machinery and mechanical components according to manufacturer specifications.

Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

Execute preventive maintenance schedules and document work performed.

Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and enhance equipment reliability.

Participate in predictive maintenance activities (vibration analysis, condition monitoring, lubrication standards).

Safety & Compliance

Ensure all work meets plant safety standards and complies with food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP).

Maintain clean work areas to prevent contamination and ensure audit readiness.

Work closely with production, sanitation, and QA teams to reduce downtime and support continuous improvement.

Complete accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts usage in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in equipment upgrades or process improvements.





Education & Certifications

Millwright Certification (433A) or equivalent - Industrial Mechanic

Additional training in welding, machining, pneumatics, or hydraulics considered an asset.

Food manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

Experience

Three+ years of millwright or industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or CPG preferred).

Strong troubleshooting skills with packaging, processing, or conveyor equipment.

Technical Skills

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.

Skilled in mechanical assembly, alignment, precision measuring, and machine rebuilding.

Basic knowledge of PLCs and electrical systems (not required but an asset).

Experience with welding and fabrication is beneficial.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Ability to work independently and under pressure during equipment breakdowns.

Excellent and clear communication and teamwork skills.

High attention to detail, especially regarding safety and food safety standards.

Food manufacturing plant environment (cold & wet areas).

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in confined spaces when required.

Availability to work overtime, weekends, or on-call rotations as needed.
