The Role
We’re hiring an experienced Electrical Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain GSE and complex electromechanical systems, both in our Milton facility and on-site at customer locations. You’ll work on 60 and 400 Hz engine-driven and solid-state generators (2–144 kW output or equivalent), troubleshoot AC/DC systems and circuitry, and see jobs through from inspection and quoting to final test and sign-off. This is hands‑on, varied work for a technician who takes ownership and holds a high standard.
What You’ll Do
Inspect equipment to determine repair requirements (time and materials) and prepare work‑order quotes for review, including scope, labour, and materials
Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and test AC/DC generators – both 60 and 400 Hz, engine‑driven and solid‑state
Troubleshoot AC/DC components including transformers, silicon‑controlled rectifiers (SCRs), and insulated‑gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs)
Remove, install, assemble, and disassemble generators, engines, and component parts using hand and power tools
Troubleshoot and trace wiring harnesses; perform electrical production assembly
Test electromechanical assemblies using oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, hi‑pot testers, and bridges
Repair or replace defective or worn parts; test and adjust repaired equipment for proper function
Read electrical and technical drawings (single‑line, schematics, diagrams)
Communicate inspection, evaluation, and test results clearly and professionally
Maintain a safe, clean work setting in line with Patlon’s quality standards and procedures
What You Bring
3-5+ years of hands‑on electrical repair and diagnostics experience
Proven troubleshooting and repair capability across AC/DC electrical and mechanical systems,
ideally including 60/400 Hz generators (2–144 kW) and a working knowledge of diesel engines
Ability to read single‑line drawings, schematics, and diagrams
College diploma; completion of a relevant trade program or equivalent related experience preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfort navigating company systems and portals
Fluent English (written and spoken); French is an asset
Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence
Canadian citizen with a valid passport (required for defence‑sector work and travel)
Able to travel out of town on short notice
Own basic tools
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team
