Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Sr.
Substation
Technician / Technologist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical substations and associated heavy equipment. As a key contributor, you will work on complex electrical systems, perform hands-on repairs, and support substation upgrades to maintain the integrity of our power distribution network. Your expertise will help us deliver secure, efficient, and resilient energy solutions to our customers. Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of substation equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and protective relays.
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket cranes to assist with equipment installation and repairs.
- Conduct electrical testing and diagnostics on low voltage and high voltage systems to identify faults and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively for wiring, component replacement, welding, and rigging tasks.
- Support substation upgrades by performing rigging operations, equipment removal, and installation with precision.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections,
and repairs in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow all safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and adherence to electrical codes.
Experience
- Proven experience working in electrical substations or related heavy industrial environments.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and cranes.
- Electrical experience including low voltage systems, wiring practices, testing procedures, and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with welding techniques and rigging operations for equipment handling and installation projects.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently in a variety of settings.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to high-voltage electrical systems and heavy machinery operation.
- Prior experience working with utility or industrial electrical infrastructure is preferred but not required.
