Move Beyond Traditional Community Pharmacy
Are you a pharmacist looking for a role where you can spend more time with patients and making a direct clinical impact? We are seeking a Full-Time Staff Pharmacist to join a growing clinical pharmacy team in the Ottawa area. This is a unique opportunity to step outside the traditional pharmacy counter and provide direct clinical pharmacy services to patients in their homes and nursing homes.
You will work closely with elderly patients, helping ensure their medications are appropriate, safe, and effectively managed.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The schedule offers flexibility, allowing you to organize your day around patient visits and clinical responsibilities. No weekend requirement.
About the Role
As a Staff Pharmacist, you will provide clinical pharmacy services directly to patients in their homes and nursing homes throughout the Ottawa area. Rather than spending the majority of your day behind a pharmacy counter, you'll have the opportunity to meet patients where they receive care and work directly with them to optimize their medication therapy. Your responsibilities may include:
- Conducting medication reviews and assessments
- Reviewing patients' medication regimens
- Identifying potential drug interactions, duplications, and medication-related concerns
- Providing medication recommendations and clinical interventions
- Educating patients and caregivers about medications
- Supporting elderly patients with complex medication needs
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals and caregivers
- Documenting clinical assessments and interventions
- Following up with patients to ensure medication-related issues are addressed
- Using Kroll to maintain accurate patient and medication records
What We're Looking For
- Licensed Pharmacist in Ontario
- Active registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Strong clinical knowledge and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable interacting with elderly patients and their caregivers
- Willingness to travel to patient homes and nursing homes
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
- Canadian pharmacy graduates are preferred, particularly because the role involves providing clinical services to an elderly patient population.
Long-Term Care experience is not required. The client will provide the training needed to help you succeed in the role and develop your clinical skills. This makes the position an excellent chance for: Experienced community pharmacists looking to move into clinical practice, Pharmacists interested in working more directly with patients, New pharmacy graduates, and Pharmacists looking to build experience working with elderly patients.
What We Offer
- CAD $65–$70/hour
- CAD $135,200–$145,600/year based on 40 hours/week
- Monday–Friday schedule
- Flexible working hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM
- Gas card provided to cover travel expenses
- Training provided by the client
- Long-Term Care experience NOT required
- Excellent opportunity for a new graduate
- Opportunity to develop strong clinical pharmacy experience
