Arrow & Slocan Lakes Community Services is seeking a part time Stopping the Violence Outreach Worker to join our dynamic team! This is a termed position from August 2026 – September 2027 to cover a one-year leave.

This position requires working in an environment often dealing with vulnerable clients in volatile situations. You may also be required to work outside normal office hours and outside of the office.

The clients that you will be providing service to include adult Women who have experienced, or at risk of abuse, threats, or violence and their dependent children.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

·Develop and maintain relationships with related services (e.g. counselling programs, neighbouring transition houses and safe homes, social services, the Police, other outreach services) to identify and address the service needs of women

· Develop and deliver culturally-appropriate public education initiatives to raise awareness of the effects of violence against Women; of violence prevention; and of Services available to Women who have experienced violence, abuse and threats

· Provide support individually or in groups for women in the surrounding area who have experienced violence,



abuse or threats and who are in need of support

· Assist Women who have experienced violence, abuse or threats through referrals to appropriate services such as safe, affordable housing

· Provide local transportation, accompaniment and advocacy, as required, such as for medical appointment, legal or social services appointments

· Maintain necessary client and program stats. Ensure that all required documentation is accurate and complete

Qualifications:

· Preferred post-secondary education in Human Services

· Specialized competencies, skills and knowledge in family functioning and intervention strategies to obtain the goals of service

· One year experience and a working knowledge of theory, practices and principles surrounding women and violence.

· Ability to work with women in a support capacity, in both one-on-one and group settings

· Class 5 Driver’s License

· ASSIST Training an asset

· Exceptional communication and listening skills, strong computer skills

Pay: From $31.98 per hour
