We are looking for an experienced Small Engine Technician to join our team servicing and repairing standby generators for residential and commercial customers.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently in the field, and solving mechanical and electrical problems. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take a leadership role in our generator service department as the department grows.
The Position
You will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining standby generators powered by natural gas and propane engines.
Work will take place primarily at customer homes and businesses, with some service and repair work performed in our shop as required.
Responsibilities include

- Performing inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance
- Communicating with customers and explaining repairs and recommendations
- Completing service documentation and reporting on work performed
- Working safely and professionally at residential and commercial customer locations
- Assisting with shop repairs and other technical work as required
Leadership Opportunity We are especially interested in someone who has the experience, initiative, and communication skills to help lead and develop our generator service department.
The right candidate may have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for:
- Helping organize and oversee service work
- Providing technical guidance to other technicians
- Helping develop service procedures and best practices
- Working with suppliers and manufacturers when technical support is required
- Helping train and mentor technicians as the department grows
What We're Looking For

- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and technical information
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently in the field
- Professional and courteous when dealing with customers
- Valid driver's licence and a good driving record
- Willingness to continue learning and develop generator-specific skills
Generator experience is an asset, but it is not required. Experience with small engines, automotive repair, industrial equipment, HVAC, electrical systems, or similar technical trades may also be a solid fit. Training & Support
You won't be expected to know everything on day one.
Training is provided, and technical support is available both from our store and directly from the equipment manufacturers. We provide the specialized tools and equipment required to perform the job.
We are looking for someone with a solid mechanical foundation, a willingness to learn, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
What We Offer
- Full-time employment
- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Training and ongoing technical support
- Tools provided
- Opportunity to develop specialized generator expertise
- Opportunity for advancement into a leadership role
- A mix of field service and shop work
- Stable, year-round work
The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who can walk up to a piece of equipment that isn't working, figure out why, and fix it. If you are an experienced small-engine or mechanical technician who enjoys troubleshooting and would like the opportunity to help build and lead a generator service department, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply today and tell us about your mechanical or technical experience.
