We are looking for an dynamic, energetic Steel production worker to join our growing steel shop! This role will support our warehouse, sales, customers & operations. You will work in the steel warehouse and assist with pulling orders, coordinating deliveries & facilitating customer pick ups. You will work in fast paced environment with dedicated team members & have the prospect to streamline process and ensure accuracy and efficiency!
Opportunities In this role, you will interact with sales, warehouse employees & yard staff. To be successful in this position, you will need to be comfortable working in a constantly evolving environment and juggling multiple priorities to meet deadlines. You will utilize your time management skills to ensure orders are picked and paperwork flow is managed effectively. There will be opportunities to learn new skills, cross train in other departments, and gain valuable industry experience.
who you are…
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in the loading of steel and other materials on to FVSTRA trucks and trailers & customer vehicles.
· Cut, bend, strap and palletize steel according to instructions.
- Operate a forklift and Combi-lift to move steel when pulling orders, and replenish stock from the yard to the warehouse.
- Read order details carefully & ensure accuracy of all outgoing steel orders.
- Adhere to allowable tolerance standards in the Steel industry
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring safety and efficiency. · Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge & skills
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent English language skills required.
- You have a good understanding warehouse operations/ steel shop
- You have the aptitude to work with equipment
- You follow directions well & pay attention to detail
- You have the ability to take instruction and work with minimal supervision
- You are a team player and thrive in a group setting
- Steel toe work boots are required
- You are forklift certified (or require re-certification of an existing certificate)
- First Aid is an asset
- Prior experience with oversized, heavy material handling is an asset.
- Experience with overhead cranes & combi-lifts an asset.
Qualifications · High school diploma or equivalent.
· Previous experience in a warehouse, construction, steel, or similar environment is a bonus.
· You are able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· You possess well-paced mobility as job requires long periods of standing , sitting and walking
· Basic understanding of steel products is an asset.
· Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
· Ability to work in various weather conditions.
· You have 1+ years’ experience working in a warehouse and/or steel shop.
OTHER …
· May on occasion work outside of standard office hours at various times, as the job requires
· Must have reliable transportation to work (limited bus access on site)
-Are open to work between 0600 & 1800 Mon-Friday (depending)
