Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Steel Project Manager to oversee and coordinate large scale steel construction projects.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive construction management experience, and proficiency with industry-specific software.

The position requires excellent time management skills and the ability to interpret detailed schematics and blueprints.

Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of construction estimating, project scheduling, and civil design principles.

Responsibilities

- Act as the primary point of contact for General Contractors, architects, engineers, and site superintendents.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules; proactively manage lead times for material procurement and shop capacity.
- Manage project budgets, track job costing, and handle the pricing, negotiation, and execution of change orders.
- Ensure all fabricated and erected steel meets project specifications, local building codes, and safety standards (CWB/AWS).
- Resolve on-site or fabrication discrepancies quickly to minimize delays.
- Lead and manage all phases of structural steel projects, from planning through execution
- Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure project accuracy
- Develop detailed construction estimates utilizing HeavyBid and other estimating software
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure project milestones are met
- Utilize construction management software such as ProCore and Primavera P6 for scheduling and project tracking
- Oversee procurement processes, including material ordering and delivery schedules
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage project budgets, change orders,



and documentation to maintain financial control
- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, resolve issues, and maintain safety protocols
- Prepare progress reports and communicate updates effectively to stakeholders

Experience

- Proven track record in construction management with a focus on structural steel projects
- Extensive experience reading blueprints, schematics, and civil design documents Civil 3D
- Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, including experience.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strict deadlines
- Experience in civil or heavy industrial construction environments preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on team coordination and client communication
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations applicable to steel fabrication and erection processes.

Qualifications & Experience

- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience managing structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret structural blueprints, Structural, architectural drawings, and shop drawings.
- Familiarity with steel detailing software (e.g., Tekla Structures, SDS2) and estimation tools is highly asset-rich.
- Proficiency in Project Management software (e.g., Procore )
- Knowledge: Robust understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding standards (CWB), and field erection procedures.
- Soft Skills: Outstanding communication, sharp negotiation skills, and a proactive, problem solving mindset.
- Education: Degree/Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
