Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Surgical Site Manager specializing in Ophthalmology to lead and oversee surgical operations within our ophthalmic surgical center. This pivotal role involves coordinating surgical procedures, managing clinical staff, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and optimizing patient care quality. Duties
- Supervise daily ophthalmic surgical activities, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.
- Coordinate scheduling of surgeries, staff assignments, and resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency.
- Oversee the management of electronic medical records (EMRs) and ensure accurate documentation of surgical procedures and patient information.
- Collaborate with medical professionals, including surgeons, nurses, and administrative staff, to streamline workflows and improve patient outcomes.
- Monitor inventory levels of surgical supplies and equipment, including specialized ophthalmic tools, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Implement policies related to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory compliance within the surgical environment.
- Lead training sessions for staff on new procedures, technology updates, and compliance requirements such as HIPAA regulations.
- Manage budgets related to surgical operations, including procurement costs and staffing expenses.
- Utilize software systems like Accuro or similar for scheduling and administrative management when applicable.
- Maintain thorough documentation of incidents or deviations from standard procedures for quality assurance purposes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting with a focus on ophthalmology or surgical environments.
- Registered nurse with ophthalmic surgical experience preferred
- Supervising or leadership experience in healthcare or hospital settings is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology and surgery.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as EMRs or Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
- Experience with budgeting, resource planning, and inventory management within a healthcare context.
- Knowledge of human resources practices related to staff supervision, training, and team development.
- Prior hospital or surgical center experience or working within a hospital environment is advantageous.
