Job Overview
We are hiring experienced Fur Processing Machine Operators / Tannery Technicians for a reputed fur processing facility in Canada. The candidate will be responsible for operating fleshing and shaving machines, processing animal hides, maintaining machinery, and ensuring product quality standards. The role requires experience working with various animal skins and tannery processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate fleshing and shaving machines for processing animal hides.
- Control hide thickness and ensure uniform shaving during processing.
- Handle different animal species including fox, wolf, bear, beaver, otter, and similar hides.
- Perform machine setup, operation, and minor repairs.
- Feed and operate different processing machines in the production line.
- Inspect hides and finished products to maintain quality standards.
- Identify machine issues and report equipment malfunctions to supervisors or mechanics.
- Sharpen circular blades used in processing machines.
- Transport materials such as fibers and hides between work areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of machines and work areas.
- Investigate machine stoppages and assist in troubleshooting.
- Train and support other workers when required.
Salary: CAD $36 per hour
Requirements
- Education: Minimum secondary school education
- Experience: Minimum 3 years (36 months) of relevant experience in tannery / hide processing / machine operation
- Knowledge of tannery processes, fur finishing, or skinning preferred
- Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions
- English proficiency required
