Position Summary The Technical Lead, Data Conversion provides hands-on technical leadership for the data conversion workstream of a Student Information System (SIS) migration from Banner to Workday. This role is central to the migration, applying deep, practical Banner ERP expertise to plan, execute, and validate the data conversion, while supporting knowledge transfer to internal team members throughout the engagement. The role is approximately 30%-40% hands-on data conversion work, combined with technical leadership, design, and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Data Conversion & Technical Delivery

- Lead and perform hands-on data conversion activities from Banner to Workday, including data mapping, extraction, transformation, and validation.
- Design and build integration solutions to support data conversion requirements.
- Develop and execute testing and troubleshooting processes to validate data integrity throughout the conversion process.
- Participate in systems architecture and design activities related to the data conversion project.
- Develop and maintain technical and process documentation to support the conversion effort and future maintenance.

Project & Stakeholder Collaboration

- Collaborate with the project manager and stakeholders to review project proposals, anticipate tool and resource needs, and support project and resource planning.
- Work with internal teams and external partners/vendors to align on data conversion requirements and timelines.
- Support the development and review of data conversion requirements.

Knowledge Transfer & Technical Guidance

- Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal team members to build institutional expertise in Banner-related systems and data conversion processes.




- Deliver training and documentation to support internal capability building following the conversion project.

Qualifications Required — Education & Experience

- Undergraduate degree in Computing Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum eight (8) years of recent, related technical experience, including at least six (6) years of coding, four (4) years of design, and four (4) years of business analysis.
- Mandatory: In-depth, hands-on experience with Banner ERP/SIS. Currently running Banner version 8; experience with newer Banner versions is an asset.
- Experience supporting or leading data conversion/migration projects in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Student Information System (SIS) workplace.
- Workday Student experience is desirable but secondary to Banner expertise, as the organization already has significant in-house Workday knowledge.
- Experience with relational database platforms (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL Server).
- Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies, tools, and techniques, including agile practices.
- Understanding of UML and experience with at least one UML modeling tool is an asset.
- Experience with Software Configuration Management (SCM) methodologies, practices, and tools, including hands-on experience building SCM environments (Java/Oracle technology stack experience is an asset).
- Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and deployment technologies.
- Experience with enterprise integration architectures and patterns (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML, XSLT).
