Linus Media Group (LMG) is on the lookout for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Technical Production Assistant to support our talented team of writers. Join the creative force behind our YouTube tech channels, Linus Tech Tips (LTT), ShortCircuit, TechLinked, and more. Bring your ideas, PC builds, and IT knowledge to help create content that reaches over 15 million subscribers!

Reporting to the Head of Writing, you’ll assist the Writing team in producing engaging videos by assembling PCs, researching technical topics, creating and managing props, and assisting set setup and teardown. With a passion for technology and a strong IT background, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality, accurate, and informative content.

As a Technical Production Assistant, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

- Assisting the Writing/Production team with technical setups, including but not limited to:
- Building, configuring, troubleshooting, and tearing down modern and vintage computers
- Setting up screen-capture for complex or legacy hardware
- Networking and network troubleshooting
- Researching and fact-checking technical topics for Writers to accelerate the writing process and ensure video content meets high standards of accuracy and quality
- Providing on-set project-related technical support and expertise
- Communicating with third parties to explore, develop, or coordinate video projects
- Assisting with the teardown and clearing of sets after shoots, ensuring all equipment is safely disassembled and organized for future use
- Coordinating the transportation of computers, props,



and other equipment between offices, sets, and warehouses to reduce downtime on sets
- Maintaining up-to-date Windows images as well as commonly used software and games to support production demands.

Job Requirements:

- 2-3 years of experience in diagnosing and fixing issues with both modern and vintage hardware, software, and network setups
- Interest in computer equipment, gaming devices, and other new emerging technologies
- Proven ability to manage shifting priorities in a quick-paced environment, meeting deadlines and coordinating tasks
- Proficient with and comfortable troubleshooting Windows and Linux operating systems
- Comfortable working within Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments
- A valid driver’s license for regular offsite shoots and errands; reasonable accommodations will be considered for individuals unable to drive due to any protected grounds

Assets:

- Previous experience in IT or related experience
- Experience and interest in PC niches such as:
- Custom PC water cooling
- IP addressing, subnetting, Wi-Fi standards (e.g., 802.11ax), security protocols (e.g., WPA2/WPA3), VLANs, and link aggregation techniques
- Enterprise server hardware
- Familiarity with basic lighting, audio, and video camera setups in production settings such as film, broadcast, or streaming to assist production teams in creating high-quality content

Compensation: For this position, the typical hiring salary base range falls between CAD $65,000 and $87,000 per year, based on market location and job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills and experience.



This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus and extra benefits, which together make up the total compensation package, in line with our company’s philosophy to recognize and reward employee contributions.
