Personal Support Worker - Seguin Township , Parry Sound - CAD$2,268.00/week
Description

We're seeking a compassionate and experienced caregiver to provide overnight support for a mother living with her daughter in their home. This is a short-term care arrangement at the family's cottage in the Perry Sound area, approximately 25 minutes south of town on Clear Lake.

About the Client:

The client is a physically active senior woman who maintains good mobility and independence during the day. She has some memory challenges and occasionally experiences nighttime confusion or anxiety. She's generally very accepting of caregivers and responds well to calm, patient support. She values her independence and prefers caregivers who don't treat her differently or speak about her in front of her.

Responsibilities:

Provide overnight supervision from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM (or flexible end time around 9:30-10:30 AM)

Sleep in the client's room (king-size bed available, or chair can be provided)

Redirect the client from the bathroom back to bed during nighttime wakings

Provide reassurance and comfort when she feels scared or anxious, sometimes holding her hand until she falls back asleep

Assist with morning bathing or dressing as needed

Remain available for a brief period in the morning to allow the family member to complete quick errands

Engage in light social conversation in the evening before bedtime

What We're Looking For:

Experience working with seniors, particularly those with memory challenges or dementia

Calm, patient demeanor with a warm but not overly effusive approach

Strong understanding of dignity and respect in care—never discussing the client's condition in front of her or answering questions directed to her

Ability to provide gentle redirection and reassurance during nighttime confusion





Comfortable with overnight care and sleeping in the client's room

Reliable, punctual, and skilled

Comfortable with pets (the family has two puppies)

Schedule:

This is a short-term assignment for approximately two weeks, with potential for extension. The schedule is 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM (or flexible morning end time), seven consecutive days. The cottage is a spacious three-story home in a beautiful lakeside setting at the end of a quiet road, offering a comfortable and peaceful work environment.

She responds well to caregivers who don't treat her like she has dementia - avoid reporting about her in front of her or answering questions directed at her. She prefers caregivers who are not overly fussy but are attentive, experienced with seniors, and can engage naturally (previous successful caregiver bonded over jewelry). Jackie is physically active, goes up and down three flights of stairs daily, and attends physio twice a week. She's high-functioning but needs social stimulation and supervision for safety, particularly at night to prevent wandering.
