We offer three streams of support services for families, children and adults that support a fully inclusive and inviting environment.Our mission is to serve and support people of all abilities to reach their personal potential, and to improve the quality of life for all members of our community.Come and be a part of making an impact in our Kitimat Community!Individual and Family Support WorkerJoin our team and make a difference — one person, one family, one day at a time!About the RoleThis is a one‑year (12 months) maternity coverage positionAs anIndividual and Family Support Worker, you’ll be part of a passionate team dedicated to helping people thrive — whether it’s empowering adults with disabilities or supporting families to build stronger, healthier connections.This unique role combines two incredible programs:Community Living BC (CLBC)Support adults with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, independent, and connected lives. You’ll promote their physical, emotional, and mental well‑being through personalised, one‑to‑one support.Family Preservation and Supervised AccessThe Family Preservation Program enhances the capacity of families to manage everyday challenges by providing individualised and family‑centred support. The program promotes positive parent‑child relationships and delivers services in alignment with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) contract.Supervised AccessSupervised Access is a referral‑based program that facilitates and monitors visits between children in care and their biological families,
ensuring a safe and supportive environment for family connection and interaction.Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuild supportive, trusting relationships with individuals and families.Provide hands‑on, individualised support tailored to each person’s needs.Encourage positive parenting and meaningful parent‑child connections.Help individuals develop essential life skills — from daily living tasks to social engagement.Collaborate on creating and updating individualised service plans.Connect families and individuals to community programmes, resources, and opportunities.Organise workshops and group support sessions.Create and share helpful resource materials for families.Maintain accurate and confidential records.Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and ongoing training.Write reports and complete documentation for funders and partners.Continue learning and growing through career development.QualificationsAdegree or diplomain a related field (Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Education, Psychology, or similar).Experience supporting individuals and families — you know how to connect, encourage, and empower.Strong communication skills and a team‑player attitude.A commitment to compassion, respect, and inclusion in all you do.Other RequirementsClear Criminal Record CheckValid Driver’s Licenseand safe driving recordFirst Aid & CPR CertificationAccess to a reliable vehicle or other safe transportationFlexibility to work evenings and weekendsWhy Join Us?You’ll be part of a supportive, caring team that values creativity, collaboration, and community.
