Stone Mason
Bricklayer
Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans to determine the specifications and layout of the brickwork
Measure and mark surfaces to be covered with bricks, using chalk lines, plumb bobs, or levels
Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto a slab or foundation using a trowel
Lay bricks or other masonry units to build walls, arches, or other structures
Cut or trim bricks or other masonry units to size using hand tools or power saws
Apply mortar to brick surfaces and press bricks into place, aligning them according to the specified patterns
Clean excess mortar from the surface of finished brickwork using hand or power tools
Repair, maintain, and restore existing brick structures as needed
Skills
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction plans
Solid knowledge of different types of bricks, thin bricks, blocks and cultured stones mortar and other masonry materials
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and materials
Ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects on time
Attention to detail and precision in laying bricks to ensure structural integrity
Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks that require lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions
