Location: Before School Care: YMCA Lac Des Bois Care and Learning Centre (4131 Rainbow Dr, Prince George, BC V2M 3W3)

After School Care: YMCA Westwood School Age Child Care (2633 Vanier Dr, Prince George, BC V2N 1V1)

Term: Temporary, Full-Time

Hours: 30-35 hours per week

Shift: Monday to Friday with shifts between the hours of 7:00am- 9:00am and 2:00pm - 6:00pm. Upwards of 5 additional hours per week for prep/admin work

Start Date: August 31, 2026

End Date: June 30, 2027

Salary: $27.36 per hour

Reports To: Supervisor

Nature & Scope
If you want to work with children, we’re looking for you! YMCA Team Leaders have a passion for working with children and families. They are dedicated to ensuring compliance with all YMCA Policies & Procedures and Child Care Facilities Licensing Requirements as well as developing leadership to a team of School Age Leaders. You’ll contribute to care plans, support children’s strengths, maintain an appropriate child to staff ratio, and ensure every child feels included and supported. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a child’s day while fostering a community of belonging and growth.

Major Responsibilities - in this position, you will :

Plan and lead indoor and outdoor activities for children ages 5 – 12

Ensures staff/child ratios are met at all times.





Ensures compliance with all YMCA Policies & Procedures and Child Care Facilities Licensing Requirements.

Directly supervise and provide leadership to the team

Provide on-going coaching and development

Plan and implement child- centred programming

Establish positive relationships and communications with families, staff and key community stakeholders

Provide active supervision to ensure children are accounted for at all times

Prepare healthy afternoon snack

Build positive relationships with children and their families

Help children navigate conflict and role model positive behaviours

Maintain a clean, protected, and professional work environment at all times

Ensure the health and safety of children in your care

Qualification - you bring :

Must be at least 19 years of age

Experience working or volunteering with children

1 year of experience leading a team is an asset

Emergency First Aid & CPR in accordance with Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulation (can be taken within45 days of start date)

It is an asset if you have had training related to child development, and if you don’t– the YMCA provides training!

Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date.



Criminal record check application forms will be provided to you by the YMCA as we are required to use the provincial Criminal Record Review Program
