Reportingto the Manager - Inventory and working as part of the Donation Centre team, theInventory Associate is responsible for the safe and effective movement ofdonations within the Donations Centre. Ona daily basis, the Inventory Associate works with donations by initiallyreceiving the items, shepherding them through the sorting process by the SortTeam, storing the sorted donations until they are required, moving non-usableitems to recycle & disposal, and readying donations for dispersal as usableinventory to WINS thrift stores and programs.
Dutiesand Responsibilities: ReceivingDonations
Promptlyand positively greet donors and provide them with a safe, cheerful, and thanks-filleddonation experience
Evaluateitems for donation and make decisions on whether offered donations areacceptable. Communicate to donors regarding any unacceptable items in a kindand respectful manner
Work with the Truck Team to unloaddonations from trucks from retail store and donor pick-ups
Gather information for tax receiptpurposes, confirm with the donor, and provide to Manager - Inventory
Sort,Processing, Moving and Storage
Performan efficient and consistent initial rough sort of donations (ex: clothing,household, electrical, seasonal, etc.) and transfer incoming goods toappropriate Sort Team workstations
Safelybale recyclables and disposal items; store recycled and disposals safely untilpick-up or delivery
Ensureflow of goods through the Sort areas by providing full rough-sort bulk bins andremoving empty bulk bins from the Sort areas
Removesorted and graded product from the Sort areas as needed to storage, recycle ordisposal
Moveand store donations/inventory throughout the Donation Centre with safe andcorrect usage of the forklift and pallet jack
Ensurethat donations/inventory is stored in the correct locations and properlycounted and tracked
AssembleWINS retail store orders based on order sheets and assist the Truck team inloading trucks for distribution
Removerecycle and disposal items in conjunction with WINS selected contractor or,where necessary, directly to landfill
Teamwork
Actas an ambassador for WINS both on and off the job
Maintainexcellent donor,
employee, and volunteer relations through positive, kind, andprofessional interactions with others
Engageand support individual and corporate group volunteers to ensure that theirexperience is fun and rewarding
Maintainongoing communication with management on any issues or concerns
Health& Safety and Industrial Hygiene
Positivelyengage in and comply with all WINS health & safety practices, procedures,and policies
Gatherdonations and dispose of garbage left outside the Donations Centre
Maintaina safe working area for all employees, donors, volunteers, clients, andcustomers by ensuring workstations, aisles, and loading docks are clean, tidy,and clear of clutter
Otherduties as assigned from time to time.
Requirements: Education
Grade12 education, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Forkliftoperating certification is a definite asset
Experience
Prior warehouse experience wouldbe an asset.

Eligible to legally work in Canada
Anunderstanding of and affinity for the WINS brand, mission, and role with ourclients, customers, volunteers, donors, and community
Solidorganization skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced setting
Effectivecommunication skills including proficiency in verbal and written English
Basicnumeracy is required to keep counts
Awelcoming and empathetic demeanor with an ability to build and maintainpositive relationships with other employees and individual & corporatevolunteers
Flexibilityto comply with a work schedule with shifts throughout the week
Ableto stand for long periods of time
Willingto work outdoors occasionally
Ableto correctly and safely lift a minimum of 50lbs/23kg individually, and100lbs/45kg as part of a team,
on a routine, consistent, and regular basis
Work-readywith CSA approved steel-toed safety boots
