Description
The Terrain Park Groomer will assist the Terrain Park Grooming Supervisor in the overall delivery of the Terrain Park focusing on snow-cat operations. The individual is responsible for helping with nightly maintenance of the terrain parks. Will assist supervisor and lead with all terrain park builds and events.
Essential Functions
Perform prestart inspections; shut down procedures and complete all required documentation.
Will have read the Pisten Bully manual and become knowledgeable with the manufacturers’ standard operating procedures of all machinery operated and complete documentation required.
Will have read, understood and signed a copy of the Park Grooming Manual.
Report all incidents and near misses immediately to your shift supervisor; this includes all injury accidents, close calls, feature damage, or other reportable incidents. .
Adhere to all Corporate policies and procedures and all Maintenance standard operating procedures for the safe operation and proper maintenance of all vehicles.
Perform clearing and snow accumulation maintenance of buildings entrances, lift terminals (load/unload), Gondola terminals or other areas, as and when required.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all departments.
Able to identify improper, inadequate, or poor-quality grooming and how that might relate to risk management issues.
Ability to follow instruction that comes from the daily meetings or is written in the Grooming List for the shift; report all shortcomings with explanation.
Keep your assigned snowcat spotless for the next operator.
Identify, contain, mitigate and report all fuel leaks according to the Fuel Management Program.
Complete general maintenance to machines before, during or after shift including but not limited to changing lights, grouser bars, track guides and tires.
Other duties as assigned.
Park Duties and Responsibilities
Sets up grooming pattern with minimal turnarounds and a seamless finished product
Maintains overall grade of original park through consistent blade work
Constantly counters snow migration due to gravity, weather, and skier traffic
Demonstrates a finish grade back-blade on small and narrow takeoffs
Fills ruts and re-shapes lips on takeoffs as necessary
Cuts crisp takeoff lips requiring little to no handwork
Capable of smooth tiller drop on takeoffs, leaving a clean transition from approach to lip
Corduroy angle matches angle of intended trajectory for each feature
Refreshes landings, breakovers, and decks as necessary
Maintains a visually pleasing, parallel grooming pattern throughout the entire park
Tills to within 2 feet of hard features without contact
Leaves no chunks, track marks, or other imperfections
Produces a finished product that is ready to ride with little to no hand work
Must be able to groom the whole park start to finish
Refreshes features by re-grading landings, adding deck height, etc.
Demolishes features as necessary based on communication from supervisor
Capable of ensuring shift park grooming plan is complete
Experience/Requirements
Previous mountain operation and/or heavy equipment operation experience preferred
Mechanically inclined
Clean and valid driver’s license
2 years’ cat operations experience required
1 year Terrain Park building experience required
Trail grooming experience required
Must have strong skiing or snowboarding skills and have knowledge of freestyle skiing/riding
Enjoy outdoor mountain lifestyle
Additional Considerations
Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This position requires the ability to sit and concentrate for long periods of time, a good level of physical fitness, and the ability to work independently.
Intermittent exposure to extreme environments (temperature, wind, alpine slopes).
This role operates heavy machinery and works around moving equipment.
Uniform pieces (liner, outer jacket, outer pants, toque) are provided.
Must be able to hike and move around easily in a remote, alpine environment.
Snowmobile and vehicle operation for work requires completion of a training program and competency assessments.
This role has potential exposure to industrial chemicals e.g., solvents, oils, grease.
This role is subject to all terms and conditions of the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook, Policy Manual, and the Employment Standards Code.
