Grade 4 Homeroom Teacher
Job Duties/Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide high-quality, engaging, and student-centred instruction while creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of Grade 4 students. Responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering Alberta Education curriculum-aligned Grade 4 programming across core subject areas, including English Language Arts and Literature, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
Designing engaging, inquiry-driven and student-centred learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and a love of learning.
Integrating Islamic values, character education, and respectful citizenship throughout classroom learning and daily school life.
Creating a positive, safe, caring, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student belonging, responsibility, independence, self-regulation, and positive relationships.
Using differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and learning profiles.
Planning and facilitating meaningful hands-on, collaborative, and inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage students to make connections between their learning, their faith, and the world around them.
Integrating appropriate educational technology to enhance student engagement, collaboration, creativity, and learning.
Assessing student learning through formative and summative assessment, providing timely and meaningful feedback, and using assessment evidence to inform instruction.
Supporting students with diverse learning needs through collaboration with Learner Support staff, Educational Assistants, specialists, and families.
Developing, implementing, and reviewing Learner Support Plans (LSPs), IPPs, accommodations, and other supports as required.
Communicating regularly and professionally with families regarding student learning, progress, achievement, and well-being.




Collaborating with grade-level and specialist teachers through professional learning communities to plan, reflect on practice, analyze student learning, and support continuous school improvement.
Participating actively in professional learning and contributing to a collaborative, inquiry-driven teaching culture.
Participating in school events, supervision, extracurricular activities, and other school-wide initiatives as required.
Supporting the development of a positive school culture rooted in the school's Islamic values and commitment to academic excellence.
Education/Qualifications In addition to demonstrating robust teaching competencies, applicants must possess:
A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification in Alberta.
A Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in Elementary Education or a related field.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching elementary-aged students, preferably at the Grade 4 level.
Strong knowledge of the Alberta Education curriculum, assessment, and reporting requirements.
Effective classroom management skills and the ability to establish a safe, respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning setting.
Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and relationship-building skills.
A demonstrated commitment to supporting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience teaching Grade 4 or upper elementary grades within the Alberta education system.
Experience integrating literacy and numeracy strategies across the curriculum.
Experience using educational technology to enhance teaching and student learning.
Experience designing inquiry-based, interdisciplinary, hands-on, and project-based learning experiences.
Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), inquiry-based learning, or concept-based teaching is considered an asset.
Experience leading extracurricular activities, student clubs, or school-wide initiatives is considered an asset.
First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
