Enhance Indigenous education as a First Nations Cultural Coordinator with School District 60 in Fort St. John, BC. This pivotal role fosters collaboration and cultural responsiveness for First Nations students.
As a collaborative First Nations Cultural Coordinator, you will work closely with local communities, school staff, and families. Your focus will be to strengthen Local Education Agreements (LEAs) and promote educational practices that reflect Indigenous perspectives. Specifically, you'll advocate for students, organize cultural awareness programs, and support educational resources, ensuring a culturally safe learning setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as a cultural liaison between schools and First Nations
• Coordinate community engagement and school visits
• Organize cultural awareness workshops and events
• Advocate for First Nations students' needs and resources
• Support development of educational resources reflecting Indigenous knowledge
Requirements:
• Indigenous heritage preferred; deep understanding of cultures
• 2 years of post-secondary education in relevant fields
• Experience in Indigenous education and community engagement
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license for travel
