The Opportunity: Seastar Chemicals, an Avantor company, is seeking a Sr. Production Associate to join our Production team in Sidney, BC. In this hands-on role, you'll support the safe production, handling, packaging, and movement of high-purity chemical products while helping ensure operational excellence in a clean, safety-focused manufacturing environment.
What you'll do: Production & Chemical Handling Safely handle, transfer, and process chemical feedstocks, acids, and bases in accordance with established safety procedures and operating guidelines.
Calculate and produce finished products and custom chemical solutions to meet customer requirements.
Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain production equipment-including pumps, stills, chillers, neutralization systems, and scrubber systems-to ensure safe, efficient operations and product quality.
Support inventory management of feedstocks, waste materials, drums, and related production supplies.
Assist with weekend and emergency production coverage as required.
Packaging & Warehouse Operations Perform bottle preparation, filling, labeling, packaging, and shipping activities.
Clean, sanitize, and maintain production, packaging, and warehouse areas to clean-room standards.
Maintain accurate production, packaging, inventory, and shipping records.
Provide operational support and coverage for Packaging Technicians and Warehouse personnel when needed.
Prepare empty drums for resale and maintain outdoor production areas, including silos and trench drains.
Safety & Continuous Improvement Follow all company safety policies, SOPs, and quality standards.
Participate in required training and certification activities.
Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance,
and Warehouse teams to achieve operational and service goals.
Support waste reduction efforts through material reprocessing and maintain accurate inventory records for feedstocks, reprocessed materials, waste streams, and drums.
Contribute ideas and solutions that improve safety, quality, and productivity.
What you bring: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in Chemistry or a related field is an asset.
3-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or processing environment preferred.
Knowledge of safe handling procedures for corrosive chemicals, including acids and bases.
Mechanical aptitude and experience working with industrial equipment, pumps, piping, pneumatic systems, or related machinery.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues in a production environment.
Understanding of clean-room or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Ability to safely move and handle heavy materials, including drums.
Basic understanding of electrical systems and wiring is an asset.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety.
