About The Role
HUB International is growing, and we are looking for a dynamic Underwriter in our Auto Dealership segment working in a hybrid environment in our Langley location. We are looking for someone that can work under limited direction and underwrites new and renewal business within designated authority levels. This is an ideal role for a for a strong technical underwriter with commercial underwriting production and renewal retention expertise. This role reports to the National Underwriting Manager - Dealership Program.

What You’ll Do

Evaluate risks and make underwriting decisions based on company guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing strategies.

Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional customer service and delivering value-added solutions.

Collaborate with other underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to drive profitable growth and increase market share.

Manage the submission, quoting, and binding processes for new and renewal business, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.

Negotiate policy terms and conditions with brokers and clients, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Monitor and manage risk exposures, including the handling of claims and loss control recommendations.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior underwriters and other staff members.

Keep abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments to identify emerging risks and opportunities.

What You’ll Need for Success

5+ years of experience in P&C; underwriting, with a focus on commercial lines and preferably in program and complex risks.





Strong technical knowledge of P&C;/Auto insurance products and services, with an ability to apply this knowledge in a creative and innovative manner

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain robust relationships with brokers and clients

Proven track record of achieving underwriting profitability and growth targets

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and translate insights into action

Ability to adapt to changing business priorities and to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Experience with underwriting systems and workflows, with a willingness to learn new technologies as needed

Experience with EPIC broker management and Policy Works systems is an asset

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 to $90,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
