Overview
Position Summary
The Junior Collision Estimator supports the collision center by assisting in assessing vehicle damage, preparing preliminary repair estimates, and providing excellent customer service within an OEM certified environment. This entry‑level role is ideal for individuals looking to grow their career in collision repair estimating.
The Junior Collision Estimator works under the guidance of senior estimators and the Collision Manager to ensure all repair plans follow OEM standards and that communication with customers, technicians, and insurance partners is clear and accurate.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Assist in performing vehicle inspections to document collision damage and determine required repairs.
Help prepare accurate initial estimates using certified estimating software (CCC, Mitchell, Audatex).
Support senior estimators in reviewing repair plans for accuracy and OEM compliance.
Communicate with customers to gather information, explain repair processes, and provide updates.
Coordinate with insurance adjusters by gathering documentation and assisting with supplemental estimate requests.
Collaborate with the parts department to verify parts availability and pricing.
Monitor repair progress with technicians and support updates to estimates when needed.
Maintain organized and accurate repair files, photographs, and customer records.
Learn and apply OEM repair procedures and industry best practices through training and mentorship.
Receive and check in parts for repairs.
Qualifications
Previous automotive service, body shop support, or related experience preferred; willingness to learn estimating required.
Basic understanding of vehicle components, collision damage, and repair processes is an asset.
Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment with attention to detail.
Familiarity with estimating software (CCC, Mitchell, Audatex) is an advantage but not required for entry‑level candidates.
Commitment to following OEM repair procedures and dealership standards.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
