Kings is seeking a curious and collaborative Software Engineer - Backend and Data Integrations to join our growing technology team. You will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our platform, with a focus on backend services, data ingestion workflows, and third-party integrations. This is an on-site role based in North Vancouver, BC.
Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from planning and implementation through testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Evolve existing systems through incremental modernization, refactoring, improved test coverage, and deliberate technical debt reduction.
Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to design and deliver new features, APIs, and third-party integrations.
Use company-approved AI-assisted engineering tools for appropriate development tasks while protecting confidential data, reviewing output, and remaining accountable for shipped code.
Troubleshoot production issues and optimize system performance. Participate in code reviews and improve automated testing and documentation.
2+ years of professional software development experience involving production systems.
Production experience with either Go or Python, plus the ability and interest to work in both languages.
Hands-on experience with AWS serverless architectures, including Lambda, S3, event-driven or queue-based services, and CloudWatch.
Strong relational database skills, including schema design and query optimization, plus experience with caching and NoSQL data stores such as Redis and DynamoDB.
Experience with Git-based workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and able to commute to our North Vancouver office.
Experience integrating AI or machine-learning capabilities into production applications.
Experience with high-volume data ingestion, message queues, or event-driven processing.
Evidence of independently developing and deploying software, including professional, open-source, or personal projects.
Monthly credit toward concerts, sports, and other live events.

Flexible Work Schedule: Flexible start and end times within the role's scheduled working window.
A cooperative work setting with company-sponsored events and a casual dress code.
Employees work an eight-hour shift, with flexible start and end times between 7:00 a.m.
