Executive Director (Fractional Contract)

About Insight Counselling & Therapy Centre
For twenty-five years, Insight Counselling & Therapy Centre has provided accessible, community-based mental health services to individuals and families across Calgary. Through a unique partnership model, we deliver affordable counselling in community locations while also serving as a training site for graduate counselling students.

Insight is entering an exciting period of growth, with new community partnerships, expanded programming, and plans to strengthen organizational capacity and long-term sustainability. We are seeking a leader who is energized by building systems, creating opportunities, and helping an established organization reach its next stage of impact.

The Opportunity
Insight is seeking an entrepreneurial and community-minded Executive Director to help guide the organization through its next stage of development.

Working closely with the Board of Directors and Clinical Director, the Executive Director will provide strategic, operational, and fundraising leadership while helping to strengthen the organization's sustainability, partnerships, and community impact.

This role is being launched as a fractional contract position of approximately 12 hours per week and is anticipated to begin in August 2026. As the organization continues to grow and secure sustainable funding, there may be opportunities for the role to expand in scope and hours over time.

This position is well suited to someone who enjoys building relationships, developing systems, and helping organizations grow through identifying and capturing funding opportunities. We are looking for a self-motivated leader who can work independently, take initiative, and translate ideas into action.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership





Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Clinical Director to establish organizational priorities and long-term goals

Support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives

Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand the organization's impact

Champion the organization's mission, vision, and values

Fund Development

Identify and pursue funding opportunities to enhance the organization's mission

Lead and support fundraising initiatives, grant development, donor engagement, and community events

Drive community engagement to strength partnerships and visibility leading to more sustainable funding pipeline

Community Partnerships and Organizational Growth

Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, funders, and stakeholders

Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration, growth, and community engagement

Support the development and sustainability of programs and partnerships

Ensure organizational activities remain responsive to community needs

Operational Leadership

Oversee organizational systems, processes, and operational effectiveness

Ensure resources are used efficiently and strategically

Support organizational planning and risk management

Support staff, volunteers, and organizational culture

Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Support Finance committee in budgeting, financial planning, and organizational sustainability





What We're Looking For
We recognize that strong candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds and encourage applications from individuals who can demonstrate a combination of the following:

Five or more years of progressive experience in leadership, management, business development, fundraising, or organizational growth

Experience within the nonprofit sector, community services, healthcare, mental health, or a related field

Demonstrated solid relationship-building and partnership-development skills experience

Experience working with boards, funders, and community stakeholders

Financial literacy and comfort with budgeting and organizational planning

Demonstrated ability to work independently and move projects forward with limited oversight

Collaborative and creative style, that brings people together

Entrepreneurial mindset, initiative, and strong problem-solving abilities

Knowledge of Calgary's nonprofit, social service, or mental health landscape is considered a strong asset

Strong commitment to equality, community growth and value of all people(?)

A degree in business, nonprofit management, social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
