Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare monthly billings, claims and financial reports for provincial and federal programs
Monitor program disbursements, including wage subsidies, for provincial and federal programs
Accounts Receivable (A/R):
Prepare and process invoices and client statements
Perform reconciliations and follow up on outstanding receivables
Reconcile and resolve billing issues with clients
Prepare and submit monthly claims to provincial government funders
Accounts Payable (A/P):
Process accounts payable transactions and provide support to the A/P Clerk
Review payment and reimbursement documentation for accuracy and completeness
Liaise with departments across the organization, as well as vendors, customers and government funders
Liaise with auditors and assist with internal and external audits
Maintain systems to track expenditures for provincial and federal multi-year contracts and provide senior management with regular updates on financial progress
Assist with full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
Prepare monthly general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations
Identify and resolve accounting and internal control issues and assist with implementing improvements
Recommend opportunities to streamline accounting processes and procedures
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures
Maintain confidentiality of organizational and client information
Perform filing and other general administrative duties as required
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
Occasional overtime may be required
Experience, Education and Other Requirements
Diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 2?3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a not-for-profit or government-funded setting
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar accounting/ERP system; Business Central experience is preferred
Previous experience working with provincial government programs and the Integrated Case Management (ICM) system is an asset
Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, including Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO)
Knowledge of not-for-profit financial administration, including budgeting, financial reporting and government-funded programs
Strong administrative, computer and technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial and program information effectively
Solid organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to work effectively in a changing environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy requirements and organizational policies
A criminal record check must be completed prior to commencing employment and may be required periodically thereafter
Preference given to
A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognize
