Position Overview
Experience
Previous experience working with infants/children in a health care setting.
Minimum of three yearsdirect related experience would be an asset.
Experience working with communication disorders and deaf and hard of hearing people would be an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
Completion of an approved Rehabilitation Assistant Program.
Completion of Audiology Assistant Program or willingness and ability to enroll in such a course through distance education and completion within one year.
SPECIAL TRAINING:
Basic computer skills and Medical Terminology required.
Successful completion of the in-house training provided by supervising Audiologist in accordance with training standards.
Successful completion of refresher training as per established protocol.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Valid driver’s license and access to/use of a vehicle.
Qualifications and Skills
Robust English oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel to provide infant screening at hospitals and community locations in Winnipeg.
May be required to work extended hours.
May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, Prairie Crocus Manor, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
