NOTE: Ticket Welders with CWB will start at $26.66/hr. Non-ticketed welders will start at $24.35/hr. Top rate for hourly range is $28.78.

Position Summary:

All employees are to participate in, and positively contribute to the company culture, Health and Safety initiatives, continuous improvement and abide by the Employment Standards Act and all company policies and procedures while maintaining a customer service mindset. The Welder is responsible for quality of the welds on all truss and small component parts for Britespan's buildings.

This job description and performance standard document has been prepared as a guide to ensure better communications and understanding. All responsibilities, however, have not been included, nor could they be. Your Manager may from time to time ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in the description. Likewise, this description will be revised when required to meet current business needs.

Position Qualifications:
Education & Knowledge

Completion of Secondary Education or Equivalent

A valid Driver's License

CWB Certified Welder (may be obtained through employment)

A Forklift Certificate (may be obtained through employment)

Skills

Knowledge of hand/power tools

Able to operate a mig welder

Able to operate equipment such as hand grinder, forklifts and hand tools

Able to read and interpret part drawings and welding process specifications

Able to inspect parts for quality assurance

Able to perform basic math problems

Excellent time management & attention to detail

Physical strength is required for manual material handling

Experience

1 year of related experience as a CWB Certified welder in a manufacturing setting (asset)

Experience in production processes (asset)

Communication

Excellent English Communication skills (oral and written)

Interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

Capable of setting up workstation and all associated tools

Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment





Tack and welding procedures

Have the ability to inspect welds to maintain quality and reduce rework

Read and interpret drawings or welding process specifications

Continuous learner within and beyond their own work area

Able to stand for long periods of time and be able to do heavy lifting

Able to perform basic math problems

Able to work with minimum supervision

Able to follow all safety procedures and wear all PPE apparel required for the job

Responsible for maintaining the integrity of programs, fixtures, and tooling

Ability to operate other equipment in the weld shop such as band saw, iron worker, forklifts and hand tools

Other duties as assigned
