Compensation: $32.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience
Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Road Technician to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on construction and aerial equipment throughout the Barrie and surrounding region.
This is a hybrid field-service position involving work at customer locations as well as occasional shop-based repairs. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting equipment in the field, and communicating repair requirements clearly to customers and internal service personnel.

Responsibilities include:
Travel to customer locations and construction sites to diagnose and repair equipment
Service diesel-powered, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Troubleshoot equipment such as skid steers, compact excavators, aerial lifts, material-handling equipment, and towable units
Complete preventative maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and emergency repairs
Operate and test equipment to confirm proper performance and safe operation
Read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service documentation
Determine required repairs, replacement parts, and appropriate service procedures
Ensure serviced equipment meets company quality and safety standards
Document completed work, parts used, inspection results, and equipment condition
Maintain accurate service records through the company’s computerized maintenance system
Communicate repair findings and equipment recommendations to customers
Explain proper equipment operation, safety procedures, and basic maintenance requirements
Support and provide technical guidance to junior technicians when required
Assist with evaluating equipment condition and determining whether further investment or replacement is appropriate
Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, parts, and related documentation
Follow all company safety policies, operating procedures, and legislative requirements
Wear required personal protective equipment and report unsafe conditions immediately
Qualifications
Minimum three years of experience repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, material-handling equipment, or similar machinery
Heavy equipment technician certification or related trade qualification is considered an asset
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical components
Experience diagnosing and repairing compact construction or aerial equipment is preferred
Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Comfortable working independently with limited supervision
Valid Ontario G driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract
Ability to travel throughout the assigned service territory
Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Qualified communication and customer-service skills
Comfortable using computers, tablets, and electronic service-management systems
