Key Responsibilities
As the
Prosthetic Technician , you will play a key role in the fabrication, modification, and repair of prosthetic devices while supporting clinicians in delivering exceptional patient care.
Prosthetic Fabrication & Repair
Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair custom prosthetic devices using a variety of materials, tools, and manufacturing techniques.
Ensure all prosthetic components meet quality standards, functional requirements, and prescribed specifications.
Technical Support & Quality
Assist with casting, model preparation, lamination, finishing, and other technical processes involved in prosthetic production.
Inspect completed devices for quality, fit, and durability while maintaining accurate production standards.
Work closely within a team to ensure timely delivery of prosthetic devices.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing ideas, solving technical challenges, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Workshop & Safety
Maintain a clean, organized,
and safe workshop environment while following established health and safety procedures.
Assist with inventory management, equipment maintenance, and material preparation to ensure productive daily operations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Prosthetic Technician.
Direct experience in prosthetic fabrication is required.
Graduation from George Brown College's Prosthetic Technician program is considered an asset. Although, candidates who have developed their expertise through on-the-job experience are equally encouraged to apply.
Registration as a Prosthetic Technician is preferred but not required for candidates with exceptional practical experience.
Previous experience mentoring or training junior technicians is highly valued.
Technical Skills
Demonstrated expertise in the fabrication, assembly, modification, and repair of custom prosthetic limbs, including socket fabrication and other custom components.
Strong hands‑on technical skills with experience working in a workshop environment using prosthetic fabrication materials.
Ability to produce high-quality, custom prosthetic devices while ensuring attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Creative problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn new techniques and technologies.
Flexible, dependable, and adaptable in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
