Job Summary Reporting to the Manager, Disability Management Programs, the Workplace Reintegration and Accommodation Specialist coordinates and provides support for workplace accommodation, reintegration, workers' compensation, and redeployment-related files across NAV CANADA. Additionally, this role actively supports NAV CANADA's Wellness Team, supporting a commitment to employee wellbeing and inclusive workplace practices. This role acts as a key liaison between employees, leaders, third party providers, internal wellness resources, and other stakeholders to promote employee wellbeing, and support sustainable workplace accommodations, reintegration outcomes, with a focus on safety, sustainability, and employee success.
Acting as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, the Specialist promotes an inclusive psychologically safe workplace by identifying barriers, enabling accommodations or redeployment solutions within established legislation, collective agreements, internal policies, and approval frameworks.
The role provides integrated support across both Wellness and Disability Management functions. The Specialist will lead coordination on accommodation and reintegration matters, particularly where an employee may be unable to return to their substantive position and may require modified duties, alternate placement, redeployment, or broader organizational coordination. In addition,
the Specialist actively supports and aligns with NAV CANADA's wellness initiatives by contributing to the development and implementation of wellness programs, reinforcing a culture that prioritizes employee health, and prioritizing early intervention.

In this role you will: Maintain regular and supportive communication with employees in the early stages of their absences to ensure ongoing connection and engagement, and throughout the period during which accommodation is being sought.
Provide guidance to employees about available community resources and internal wellness, health, and support resources.
Support early intervention strategies, in collaboration with the Wellness team and other stakeholders, by applying a disability management lens, to identify initiatives that may help reduce sick leave within the company.
Act as a specialized resource for managers and the HR Business Partnership, who manage accommodation requirements in accordance with NAV CANADA's Accommodation Policy, particularly in complex, long-term, permanent, or non-routine accommodation matters.
Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders to identify and facilitate suitable modified or alternate work assignments for employees who are medically fit for other duties but may be unable to return to their substantive position.
Coordinate and support the implementation of workplace accommodation processes for employees requiring long-term or permanent accommodation, including alternate placement, or redeployment, in compliance with applicable legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies.
Coordinate individualized accommodation plans, monitor accommodation effectiveness, and adjust/update plans as required in collaboration with employees, the Disability Management Specialist, leaders, HR, Labour Relations, Talent Acquisition, unions, and third-party providers, as applicable.
Support the Disability Management Specialist, as required, during the return-to-work process, by assisting with the identification of available accommodation as needed, and by addressing barriers to successful workplace reintegration.
Provide case-level subject matter advice and recommendations to leaders and stakeholders regarding accommodation obligations, best practices, and processes; support conflict resolutions where accommodation discussions become complex or involve competing operational, employee, union, legal, or policy considerations.
Manage and monitor workers' compensation claims in partnership with the third-party provider, and collaborate with leaders, employees, HR, Labour Relations, and other stakeholders where appropriate. This may include the coordination of modified work, providing information about claim progression, return-to-work planning, and issue escalation where required.
