Totran Transportation is seeking an experienced Transportation Coordinator / Dispatcher to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing over-dimensional and heavy haul freight movements across Canada and the United States. The successful candidate will be highly organized, possess strong communication skills, and excel at managing multiple priorities while ensuring safe and efficient operations.

As a Transportation Coordinator / Dispatcher, you will communicate regularly with drivers through phone, email, and dispatch software, assign loads, coordinate routes and permits, and ensure freight is delivered safely and on schedule. You will also provide operational support by helping drivers navigate changing road and weather conditions while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Dispatch drivers and assign loads as required
- Coordinate and schedule heavy haul and over-dimensional freight movements
- Manage company drivers and owner operators
- Obtain permits and arrange pilot/escort vehicles
- Organize projects, transportation plans, and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate records and operational files
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and permit requirements




- Monitor heavy haul operations and ensure permits are obtained and completed on time
- Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, and internal stakeholders
- Provide after-hours support and participate in the on-call rotation (one week per month)
- Follow all operational policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or senior leadership

Qualifications

- Previous experience in transportation dispatching, logistics coordination, or heavy haul operations
- Strong understanding of over-dimensional freight regulations and permitting processes
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a quick-paced environment and make decisions under pressure
- Proficiency with computer systems, email, and dispatch software
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance

Compensation Starting compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
