Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 09/06/2026 The Mechanical Coordinator, Steam, Water and Utilities, plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of mechanical maintenance activities at our Christina Lake, Oil Sands SAGD operation. This position provides daily supervision to a diverse mechanical workforce including millwrights, welders, pipefitters, scaffolders, insulators, and equipment operators. Reporting to the Maintenance Sr. Coordinator and as a key leader within the maintenance department, you will ensure all work is performed safely, meets regulatory requirements, aligns with engineering design, and adheres to company specifications, codes, and standards. While this vacancy is currently at Christina Lake, this posting could be used to fill vacancies at any of the Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Christina Lake North, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need).
Work Environment This is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation of 8 days on/ 6 days off. All Oil Sands Operations sites have full-service camp facilities and recreational amenities.
Transportation Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations. Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB. Christina Lake North is serviced by flight hubs in Calgary and Edmonton. Sunrise is serviced by flight hubs in Calgary and Edmonton.
What you’ll do Supervise daily mechanical maintenance activities and support a safe, high-performance workforce.
Champion Cenovus safety initiatives and lead/participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and kickoff meetings.
Ensure all work meets codes, standards, specifications, quality expectations, and schedule/budget alignment.
Oversee service providers, including progress reporting, field-ticket approvals, and coordination of accommodations.
Ensure workers are properly trained and resourced and maintain alignment with the work-order life cycle.
Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to team.
Ensures current and future talent/skill needs of team are met through development and staffing.
Utilizes an appropriate balance of "doing" and "leading" to achieve team goals.
Lead the completion of as-built documentation and work closeouts.
Responsible for the ongoing development of direct reports (personal and technical) Manage performance of direct reports through timely feedback and regular performance conversations.
Identify and drive improvements in safety, efficiency, and cost.

Who you are Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Journeyman Pipefitter or Millwright, or Journeyman certification in another mechanical trade with strong relevant experience could be considered.
10+ years of maintenance experience in SAGD, heavy industry or process plants.
Previous direct leadership of mechanical trades workforce required.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills used to implement work safely with different team member priorities while meeting schedule requirements.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines.
A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
