We need a Medical DeviceReprocessing Department (MDRD)Technician to join our MDRD team! You want to bepart of our MDRD because it plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in patientsafety and uses specialized sterilization technology to ensure surgicalinstruments are protected and ready for use. In this role you will get to operateadvanced reprocessing equipment, help maintain infection prevention standardsthroughout the hospital, and work independently as a key member of a team thatkeeps patient care moving smoothly and much more!

Asthe successful applicant, you will do the following:

- Perform all MDR activities as a core team member and independently withoutsupervision on weekends and after hours.
- Safetransport and delivery of contaminated equipment and instruments to SPD (MDRD)from the OR, patient units, and clinics several times a day
- Reprocessflexible scopes in a designated decontamination workroom in the EndoscopySuite
- Follow universalprecautions; proper PPE must be worn
- Follow manufacturesinstructions and recommendations for equipment, instruments, andproducts




- Safehandling of contaminated equipment and instruments in the Decontamination Room.All items are disassembled to their smallest components and cleaned manually.Instruments are sorted and loaded into the appropriate machines fordisinfecting (washer/ disinfector, Ultrasonic, Pasteurmatic).
- Inspect allclean and disinfected instruments and equipment for cleanliness and wear.Instruments must be reassembled and tested to ensure they are in working ordere.g. laparoscopic instruments.
- Organize instrumentsand equipment in appropriate method (containers, wrap, peel packing), andlabeled with proper information
- Operatereprocessing machines in MDR and Endoscopy in recommended manner: Steris andMedivator, Pasteurmatic, Ultrasonic, washer/disinfector, biological incubators,autoclaves, laparoscopic instrument tester,etc.
- Performbiological indicator tests daily on autoclaves and on any implant or setcontaining an implant, following Canadian Standards and PIDAC, record results,and be able to activate a recall system.
- Trouble-shootminor problems with machines
- Documentationof patient information into Medivator: inclusive of patient ID number, scopeused on patient, patient’s doctor, and person who processed the scope forpurpose of legal accountability.
- Deliverpathology specimens and appropriate paperwork to lab. Make copies of paperworkand deliver to medical records and Endoscopy Suite.
- Dailyinspect, clean,



fill solutions, run diagnostics on all machines.
- P erformbiological indicator tests daily following Canadian Standards and PIDAC, recordresults, and be able to activate a recall system.
- Checkhumidity levels in sterile storage areas
- Answer thephone and respond to enquiries regarding sterile supplies, procedures,etc.
- Prepare labour and delivery carts for the OBS Unit, chest tube trays for ER, ICU &OR.;
- Transportand deliver sterile supplies to all clinical areas in hospital
- Storesterile supplies according to CSA standards – rotating of stock, etc.
- Assist inOR with instrumentation storage as required
