Take on a leading role at the Royal Ontario Museum as Curator for Insects and Arachnids, driving research and enhancing public understanding of biodiversity. This permanent position is focused on innovation and collaboration.
As the Curator of Insects and Arachnids, you will manage one of Canada’s premier collections comprising over 10 million specimens. Your focus will be on advancing research, creating engaging public programs, and fostering educational outreach that connects the community to the importance of these species. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, enhancing museum exhibitions and research initiatives that emphasize the intersection of art and nature.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the strategic stewardship of the insect and arachnid collection
• Publish and present original research in relevant scientific fields
• Develop and execute innovative public programs and exhibitions
• Collaborate extensively across curatorial and educational teams
• Engage with community organizations to promote research and learning
Requirements:
• PhD in ecology, systematics, or a related field
• Established research record with impactful publications
• At least one year of postdoctoral experience in a museum or research environment
• Experience with public programming related to biodiversity
• Robust interpersonal and collaborative skills
