The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) offers challenging and exciting careers in health and social services delivery and administration in Canada’s North. The Territorial Authority has service locations in communities across the territory and a staff of more than 1,600 serving over 43,000 residents of the NWT and 5,900 residents of the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. Job Information This position is specifically responsible for strategic planning and monitoring for the following programs under this portfolio:
Acute Care Services: In-Patient (Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics); Obstetrical; Peri-Operative; Critical Care (Emergency and Intensive Care)
Pharmacy Services: Medication Management
Ambulatory Care: Renal Dialysis Program; IV Therapy Program
The integrated service delivery model requires that these services are delivered in the context of a wider range of health and social services.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and ability to use a variety of intervention and prevention methods and determine which method is most appropriate at any given time.
Ability to apply creative and creative approaches to policies and health to meet territorial needs.
Knowledge of administrative policies and practices to territorial systems.
Knowledge of CNA Nursing Code of Ethics and CNNN Standards.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Baccalaureate in Nursing plus five (5) years of management and supervisory experience and 5 years' experience in a clinical health care setting. Must be eligible for registration with CNNN
EQUIVALENCIES
Master's Degree in Nursing plus four (4) years of management and supervisory experience and four (4) years' experience in a clinical health care setting. Must be eligible for registration with CNNN
All other equivalencies will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis.
