Overview
As the holding compund technician, you will operate a tow truck to transport customer vehicles to be estimated and also operate a front end loader to transport total loss vehicles. You are responsible for all physical movement in the yard and transports vehicles for claim and salvage purposes. The position operates heavy equipment, and performs responsibilities in and around front end loaders, skid steers and tow trucks while those units are in operation.
Responsibilities
Utilize a tow truck to move customer vehicles for estimating purposes
Assist customers with retrieving personal items from vehicles as well as tire swaps
Perform lock outs as required
Utilize a front-end loader to move vehicles and salvage items.
Utilize a front-end loader to load salvage items for buyers
Perform alternative towing methods using equipment such as aluminium or steel towing dollies.
Provide vehicle movement services to support other areas, such as the Special Investigation Unit (e.g. tows burnt vehicles to the Inspection Garage) and Research and Training, and completes other requests as needed.
Market all total loss units for salvage disposal, with the intent of driving revenues.
Take and upload 10 HD High Quality Marketing photographs for the purpose of Salvage Sales; includes re-takes.
Take and upload 360 Interior/Exterior video on vehicles as indicated by Management.
Confirm and update vehicle information using a Honeywell Device; Engine, Transmission, Upselling Features and general condition.
Pry open trunks, unlocks doors, and removes licence plates.
Boost vehicles to obtain mileage and odometer photo.
Perform interior de-trashing of vehicles.
Perform vehicle detailing and cleaning.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Front-End Loader certificate or commitment to complete within 3 months.
Experience:
Four years of experience, including;
Two year in clerical and customer service.
One year experience operating a tow truck.
Physical Damage Centre Operations experience is an asset.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
Customer service skills with the ability to maintain a professional balance between customer and organizational needs.
Oral communication skills with the ability to convey information in a straightforward manner.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate related equipment.
Working knowledge of VISion, Holding Compound operations, CARS and Mitchell.
Working knowledge of applicable office software (i.e. MS Word, Excel).
Ability to use a smart phone and/or lap top
