The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $98,000 per year, complemented by benefits, bonuses and additional extra hours payments. Job Description The Electrical Engineer/Designer at Grantek is an exciting opportunity for an intermediate to senior-level professional with a solid background in electrical design and industrial control systems. In this role, you will take ownership of diverse and technically challenging design assignments, including the design, analysis, and testing of electrical control systems,
hardware selection and specification, and development of technical documentation. You will also have the opportunity to share your expertise by providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior and less experienced designers.
Design, develop, analyze and specify electrical control systems and associated hardware, safety systems, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other mechanical systems
Create bidding and scope documentation; lead the development and write-up of user and system design functional specification documentation
Perform risk assessments, oversee material procurement and logistics; perform panel fabrication specification
Troubleshoot electrical installations per project scope and complete commissioning summaries with client approval, as per the project
Carry out technical surveys and inspections, including more complex assignments, and prepare reports
Generate contractor schedules and work plans; run bidding meetings and perform contractor walkthroughs, ensuring required permits and site requirements are met
Generate budgets and requirements for construction activities
Monitor on-site subcontractors for safety compliance, quality of work, and budget
Establish guides, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners, and draw conclusions from comparative situations
Perform independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions involving very difficult, complex, or unusual matters or decisions
Make responsible decisions not usually subject to technical review on all assigned matters, including those involving long-range objectives and some financial accountability
Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced system designers on a regular basis
Technologies Used AutoCAD 2012/2014 or later
Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC5, SLC 500), Siemens (S5, S7, TI), Omron, Modicon, GE, and similar
PLC I/O modules and PLC I/O buses (Profibus, Fieldbus, DeviceNet, etc.)
PLC communications (Ethernet)
Motor starters, overloads, relays, and operator controls
Field sensors (Level, Pressure, Temperature, Proximity switches, Encoders, Resolvers, etc.)
Variable Frequency Drives
Pneumatic control products
Hydraulic control products
Safety monitoring relays, PLCs, Category 3
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical education
6+ years of experience in electrical control system design
Extensive knowledge of electrical design and its reciprocal effects on other disciplines
Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Fully technically literate across all relevant technical areas with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, projects, and industry changes
Strong knowledge of Grantek's business offerings, including Industrial IT and Systems Design
Experience performing independent studies, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions on complex or unusual matters
Demonstrated ability to make responsible decisions on matters involving long-range objectives and budget
Experience mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced designers
Willingness to travel b/w30-50%
