As a Senior Account Executive , you will sell freight brokerage services, arranging B2B transportation of goods across North America, primarily to Shipping Managers and Business Owners at companies shipping skids of product. You will own the full sales cycle from prospecting through quoting, booking, and tracing. Year 1 is weighted primarily toward new business development, ramping faster if you bring an existing book, and shifting toward a roughly even split with account management by Year 2. Leads are largely self-generated through your own prospecting, with a limited number of warm leads supplied from past employees. Your territory spans North America, including local (Greater Toronto Area), regional (Ontario), and national (Canada) markets, plus select U.S. business, and is not geographically assigned. This is a newly added growth position reporting to the Managing Partner. The base salary is $80,000 – $110,000 CAD.

$80,000 – $110,000 CAD base salary.

Year 2 OTE: $110,000 – $150,000+

Uncapped commission based on gross margin

Residual commission

Company-paid health benefits

Company-provided laptop

Cell phone allowance

Top performer earned approximately $400,000 after tax in a recent year on approximately $800,000 in revenue

THE COMPANY & CULTURE
Our client was founded in 2013 and is a privately owned partnership in a steady growth stage, expanding approximately 5%–30% year over year since inception. They employ 8 people total, including a 6-person sales team and 1 sales manager. Headquartered in North York, Ontario (Toronto), with additional training space in Milton, Ontario, they are a freight brokerage arranging B2B transportation of goods across North America, matching shippers with vetted carriers from a network of approximately 4,000 carriers. Clients span food manufacturing, construction, machinery, and general product-shipping industries, generally businesses shipping skids of product. The culture is casual (t-shirts and jeans), flexible, and independent, with sales-driven bonuses for hitting targets and strong long-term employee retention.

OFFICE LOCATION & SALES TERRITORY
Ideally based nearby.

Head office: North York, Ontario (Toronto), Canada, with an additional training office in Milton, Ontario

Work arrangement: Remote / work-from-home, approximately 90%; in-office most days for the first 2–3 weeks of training, then occasional office days or lunches with no fixed schedule after that.

Sales territory: North America, including local (Greater Toronto Area), regional (Ontario), and national (Canada) business, plus select U.S. accounts; the territory is not geographically assigned between reps

Ideal candidate location: Guelph–Kitchener–Waterloo–Cambridge corridor, Milton,

or the Mississauga– Oakville border (Toronto is acceptable)

Hours: Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, typically Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm

Overnight travel: None required

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

An established B2B sales professional, ideally with a transferable book of business and a proven ability to ramp quickly

B2B outside or inside sales experience in logistics, freight brokerage, or transportation — comfortable owning the full cycle from prospecting through booking and tracing

Logistics, freight, or trucking industry experience is required for this role

Post-secondary education not required; track record and expertise matter more

Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation required (for training and occasional office days)

French language skills are a nice-to-have (useful for Quebec customers) but not required

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel

Comfortable using online screen‑sharing tools

Well‑written English for customer correspondence

Internal CRM / booking software (training provided)

THE PRODUCT / SERVICE / SOLUTION

Freight brokerage services matching B2B shippers with vetted carriers across a network of approximately 4,000 carriers

Full‑cycle logistics coordination: quoting, booking, shipment paperwork and compliance filing, and end‑to‑end tracing

Service spans local, regional, national, and select U.S. freight movement

PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS / INDUSTRY FOCUS / DECISION MAKER(S)

B2B shippers across food manufacturing, construction, machinery, and general product industries, generally businesses shipping skids of product

Customers range from a single annual shipment to high‑volume accounts moving 30+ loads a month

Primary decision‑makers: Shipping Managers and Business Owners

SALES CYCLE / ORDER VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE

Account size varies widely, from a single annual shipment to 100+ shipments per year per customer

Deal complexity ranges from single‑shipment, transactional orders to multi‑truck, appointment‑based shipments

Sales cycle length varies by prospect type; an experienced rep bringing a book of business can convert faster

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

Generally lower pricing than larger competitors, which helps open the door with new customers

Best‑in‑class, one‑on‑one service: each customer works with just two people (their rep and accounting), not a rotating team

The one‑on‑one model performs especially well on complex, multi‑truck or appointment‑based shipments

TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES
Year 1 is weighted primarily toward recent business development, with account management responsibilities increasing from the start if you bring an existing book. By Year 2, the split moves toward a roughly even balance between new business and account management as your book grows; a full shift toward servicing typically plays out over a few years rather than in Year 1 or 2 alone.

On a typical day you will:

Prospect and cold‑call B2B shippers across North America to uncover new shipping needs (minimum of 10 new contacts, with name, phone, and email, per day when prospecting)

Source carrier options and provide competitive quotes, typically within an hour of a request

Coordinate transportation using authorized, vetted carriers from the company's network

Book orders, file required shipment paperwork, and trace shipments end‑to‑end, flagging any in‑transit issues

Check the booking system before each outreach to confirm a prospect isn't already a customer, and log brief intro‑call notes

Manage your own time and pipeline independently, balancing new‑business hunting against servicing existing accounts

LEADS

Approximately 90% self‑sourced prospecting — there is no supplied prospect list; identifying which companies to pursue is part of the role

A limited number of warm leads supplied from past employees

Repeat and referral business grows over time as your book of accounts develops

OVERNIGHT TRAVEL
None required.

SUPPORT & TRAINING

Hands‑on training: mentorship, shadowing, and listening to live cold calls

In‑office training for approximately the first 2–3 weeks

An experienced hire with an existing book can begin quoting and booking sooner than a rep starting from pure cold calling

Reps bring live opportunities to leadership for coaching as they develop

Full productivity is typically reached within 1–6 months

WHY YOU SHOULD APPLY

A higher first‑year base salary for experienced hires, giving you a solid income floor while your book builds

Uncapped commission with no earnings ceiling — the current top performer cleared approximately $400,000 after tax in a recent year

Genuine autonomy: no daily task list, with freedom that scales as you deliver results

Casual, flexible, and independent culture with strong long‑term employee retention

Opportunity to bring or transfer an existing book of business and ramp quickly
