CUPE 5791 Job Family Category Staff Number of Vacancies 1 Position Summary Are you passionate about building lasting connections and enhancing the alumni experience? We are seeking a dynamic individual to take on the role of Alumni Engagement Officer at our esteemed university, where you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening relationships with our 97,000+ alumni.

What You’ll Do:

Cultivate Relationships: Build and maintain positive relationships with alumni, internal stakeholders (faculties and programs), and external partners.

Program Development: Shape and enhance our alumni program offerings to provide a rich and engaging experience for our graduates.

Event Management: Take the lead in organizing and executing large-scale annual awards galas, smaller alumni networking events, both in-person and virtually, showcasing your expertise in project and event planning.

Communication Coordination: Contribute to and coordinate the delivery of impactful alumni communications, including newsletters, promotions, and special notices. Fully engage in alumni storytelling, in traditional and digital formats, to help advance alumni relationships and partnerships.

Partnership Management: Manage relationships with alumni affinity partners, fostering collaborations that benefit both parties.

Budget Oversight: Prepare and track the annual budget, ensuring financial transparency and accountability.

Strategic Contributions: Assist in updating the strategy for advancing alumni engagement and celebrating alumni achievements.

Collaboration and Liaison: Liaise and collaborate with faculty and staff at all levels within the university, promoting a unified approach to alumni engagement.

Public Speaking: Prepare briefing notes and speeches for university leadership presentations at alumni functions; confidently deliver remarks or act as an emcee.

Supportive Coordination: Provide communication and marketing support to alumni organizing groups,



ensuring their success in promoting alumni initiatives.

Reporting: Regularly report on the financial status of alumni programs, contributing to the continuous improvement of our engagement efforts.

Position Requirements

Undergraduate degree; and

Three years of event management and fundraising experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role:

Knowledge and experience with budget preparation, management and reporting.

Knowledge and experience with data management and analysis.

Knowledge and experience in fundraising, particularly in the areas of donor engagement, pipeline building and annual appeals.

Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, leading and executing large-scale events.

Experience managing and coordinating service providers.

Demonstrated experience in developing event briefings, project evaluation and project management.

Demonstrated outstanding leadership, communication (verbal/written), public speaking and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with alumni, students, staff, faculty and all levels of management.

Proven ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.





Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office software and a wide variety of complex databases and systems.

Must have the ability to effectively manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities.

Must have the proven ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems and possess strong conflict resolution skills.

Must be able to effectively lead and coordinate volunteers.

Ability to create, compose and edit a variety of written and electronic material with accuracy.

Excellent organizational skills including a proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, prioritize work and accomplish tasks correctly and on-time with strong attention to detail.

Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate methods to handle confidential material.

Must be willing to accommodate periodic evening and weekend work as needed for University events.

Physical Demands
Pay Grade APT 4

Salary Range $66,740 - $90,060 Annually

Status Term

Work Hours Monday – Friday 8:15am – 4:30pm, with occasional evening and weekend work as required.
