Your current role he Ventilation Specialist is the technical lead responsible for the design, management, optimization, and continuous improvement of the underground mine ventilation system. Working extensively underground and collaborating closely with Operations, Technical Services, Mine Planning, and Maintenance, this position ensures the ventilation system safely and efficiently supports current and future mining activities while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.

The Ventilation Specialist provides technical expertise in ventilation planning, ventilation modelling, environmental monitoring, and ventilation infrastructure design. The role is responsible for identifying long-term ventilation requirements, recommending system improvements, supporting capital projects, and ensuring ventilation practices support safe, productive, and sustainable underground operations.

Primary responsibilities and tasks

- Manage and optimize the underground mine ventilation system to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant airflow.
- Develop, maintain,



and update the mine ventilation plan to support current and future mining activities.
- Conduct underground ventilation surveys, inspections, and environmental monitoring to evaluate system performance.
- Analyze ventilation data, identify deficiencies, and develop practical corrective actions and long-term improvement initiatives.
- Design and review ventilation infrastructure, including auxiliary ventilation systems, fans, ducting, regulators, bulkheads, and ventilation controls.
- Develop and maintain ventilation models to support mine planning, production, and capital projects.
- Collaborate with Operations, Technical Services, Mine Planning, and Maintenance to integrate ventilation requirements into mine designs and operational plans.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering recommendations, and ventilation instructions to support safe and effective underground operations.
- Ensure ventilation monitoring equipment is maintained, calibrated, and operating effectively.
- Develop and maintain ventilation standards, procedures, and best practices while supporting regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Ventilation Technicians and other operational personnel.
- Participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll need to succeed

- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, or equivalent post-secondary education.
- Minimum 5 years of underground mining experience, including significant experience in mine ventilation.




- Strong knowledge of underground ventilation systems, ventilation planning, and environmental monitoring.
- Experience with ventilation modelling software (Ventsim), Deswik, and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical data, develop practical solutions, and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and provide technical guidance.
- Physically capable of working underground and conducting regular field inspections.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility would be considered an asset.
